FAQ

1. What can I expect at our first meeting?

During our first meeting, I conduct a thorough interview which enables me to get to know you, your history, background, and reasons for seeking my help.  My overall impressions are presented along with a plan of action for our future meetings.

2. How many sessions before I feel better?

Most of my clients leave our first session reporting that they “feel better already.”   For individuals seeking help with a very specific problem, solutions can often be generated during just a few meetings, if not the first.  When presenting problems that are more characterological in nature, however, several sessions may be necessary.  The speed with which goals are achieved depends upon many factors including the baseline intensity of distress, the frequency of and duration between sessions, and the degree to which you practice what was learned during your sessions.

3. Do you accept insurance?

I am a contracted provider with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Rhode Island. I am able to take any Blue Cross plan regardless of state of origin so long as the plan is part of the “PPO.”  You will be responsible  for any deductible, copay, or co insurance at the time of the visit.  For individuals with insurance plans other than Blue Cross, I will provide you with the necessary paperwork to secure reimbursement for your services directly from your insurance carrier.

4. Do I have to come into the office to work with you?

While it is generally preferred for meetings to take place face-to-face, this is not required. I am able to provide guidance and direction whether we meet in person or  via telephone, email, or text.
